ISHI’s story

…is all about YOU.

In the 8th century B.C., the

destiny of one woman, one nation and the world

was suspended in time.

The charge against them:

“…they have forgotten Me.” says the Lord.

Suddenly, God changes His mind and His rage turns into a riveting romance.

And He calls himself “Ishi.”

A plan for every person on the planet was penned in only ten verses of an ancient book by Hosea, the Prophet of Love.

This story is true.

And it was written for you.

ISHI

An Unknown Name for God Reveals A Powerful Plan for His People

Ishi, a name so powerful, so important, yet it is found only once in one chapter of an obscure book in the Old Testament: Hosea 2:16. God often used descriptive names to help His people identify with His character and His purpose. Some more familiar examples of such names include Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides; or Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals; or Adonai, the Lord God; etc.

But Ishi?

The story of Hosea has been told in books and films in recent years as a romantized version of God’s love for His people. They dramatize and sensationalize the marriage between the pious prophet Hosea and his wife, Gomer , a perpetual prostitute.

But it is so much more.

Hidden in the name, Ishi, which means “dear husband” or in the Hebrew vernacular “my man” suggests an intimate relationship between God and His people. Prior to this time in Israel’s history, God refers to himself as Baal, or Master, even Husband, to establish His authority over His people. He intentionally uses these descriptive names to oppose the lordship of a pagan god also known as a ruler named“baal.”

His intentions change in Hosea.

The God of the Universe desires intimacy with His people.

So He calls himself “Ishi.”

And in a prophecy written in the 8th century B.C. by Hosea, whose name is the Hebrew name for Jesus, God presents a plan for every person on the planet to know Him for who He really is… so we can become who we were really meant to be: FREE
